For Tables and Diagrams Where you are reproducing data from a diagram or table, or copying the entire table or diagram, in your essay, a reference should be made to the source. A reference within the text of your essay to a Table taken from a book should include the author and page (Smith 2005, p.33) to enable the reader to verify the data.

In the main body of your essay, you should indicate when you’re referring to an appendix by citing it in parentheses.

The Appendix (How and When to Use One in an Essay).

Number all tables with Arabic numerals sequentially. Do not use suffix letters (e.g. Table 3a, 3b, 3c); instead, combine the related tables. If the manuscript includes an appendix with tables, identify them with capital letters and Arabic numerals (e.g. Table A1, Table B2).Summaries or paraphrases give the citation where it occurs naturally or at the end of the relevant piece of writing.
