The library literature contains many examples of automated and semi-automated approaches to harvest electronic theses and dissertations (ETD) metadata from institutional repositories (IR) to the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC).
To make the process of submission and management of these electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs) more efficient, the Texas Digital Library host the Vireo ETD Submission and Management System, which addresses all steps of the ETD process, from submission to approval by the graduate office to publication in one or more institutional repositories.
University Libraries staff are currently digitizing thousands of pre-1997 theses and dissertations and loading them into VTechWorks.
